LOS ANGELES — Wish of Angel’s Missions, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization, hosted its “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Charity Concert on August 8 at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, bringing together internationally acclaimed musicians for an evening celebrating music, art, philanthropy and community.
Featured performers included renowned vocalist Professor Kong-Chuan Shao, internationally acclaimed erhu virtuoso Karen Han-Ottosson, and international concert pianist Donna Weng Friedman.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the event highlighted the power of music to enrich lives and bring people together, while also promoting the concepts of Music Therapy and Singing for Wellness.
Angela Fu, President of Wish of Angel’s Missions, said the concert was created as a way to give back to the community and provide more opportunities for people to experience high-quality music and the arts. She hopes the organization can continue connecting music, philanthropy and community service to benefit people of all ages.
Professor Shao, the evening’s featured vocalist, shared his passion for helping people improve their voices through his patented scientific vocal technique. He said systematic vocal training can help people of different ages and experience levels develop healthier and more effective singing skills while discovering the joy of music.
Jason Yuan, former Representative of Taiwan to the United States, also attended the event and praised Angela Fu for her longtime dedication to community service, charitable causes, cultural programs and the arts in Southern California.
Erhu virtuoso Karen Han-Ottosson said she was honored to return to Los Angeles and participate in the charity concert. Her performance showcased the distinctive beauty of the erhu and introduced audiences to the expressive richness of traditional Chinese music.
International pianist Donna Weng Friedman also delivered a memorable performance, adding another dimension to an evening that brought together Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Wish of Angel’s Missions hopes to continue bringing together artists, community leaders and supporters through charitable, cultural and artistic programs, using music as a powerful way to share love, hope and compassion with the community.
