LOS ANGELES —The biological mother of a 2-year-old child who died following an incident in Lancaster has been arrested and formally charged with murder and other child abuse-related offenses, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Homicide investigators were notified by the Kern County Medical Examiner’s Office on November 26, 2025, of the child’s death. The initial incident occurred in the 44000 block of Cedar Avenue in Lancaster.
Over the following eight months, investigators conducted multiple interviews and developed additional information that led to a Ramey warrant for the arrest of the child’s biological mother, Rayzhanna Greenhoward.
Greenhoward was arrested on July 9, 2026, and booked at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of murder.
The case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on July 13. Prosecutors subsequently filed charges of murder, assault on a child causing death, and child abuse resulting in death.
The case remains subject to ongoing court proceedings. All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
