211 LA to Identify Eligible Residents and Coordinate Temporary Housing


LOS ANGELES — Mayor Karen Bass announced today that her office has secured an additional $1 million commitment from Airbnb.org to provide free emergency housing for residents living near the Lineage warehouse in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles.

The new funding builds on the $600,000 in housing assistance previously committed by Airbnb.org, expanding emergency lodging support for city and county residents affected by the warehouse fire and ongoing cleanup efforts.

The nonprofit 211 LA will administer the program by identifying eligible residents and helping them book temporary accommodations through Airbnb.org.

Mayor Bass said she has personally visited families living near the warehouse and understands their concerns as waste removal operations continue.

“I’ve gone door to door in this neighborhood and met with families living near the Lineage warehouse,” Bass said. “They are suffering, and many have expressed their desire to relocate temporarily during the cleanup process. This additional support is an important step toward making that possible.”

She thanked Airbnb.org and 211 LA for partnering with the city to assist affected residents.

“I will continue standing with the people of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles, bringing every available resource together to help this community recover,” she said.

Airbnb.org Executive Director Christoph Gorder said the organization is proud to continue supporting Los Angeles through its longstanding partnership with 211 LA.

“As recovery efforts enter the next phase, we’re grateful to work alongside the City and County of Los Angeles and 211 LA to provide emergency housing for those in need,” Gorder said. “Our partnership enables us to respond quickly when disasters strike.”

According to 211 LA Executive Director Maribel Marin, the organization activated its emergency response immediately after the Boyle Heights fire reignited on June 19, 2026, following the same model used during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

Within hours, 211 LA connected displaced residents with Airbnb.org, and within five days, emergency housing had been provided to 892 people and 178 pets.

Marin said the additional funding will allow the organization to continue helping affected households access emergency lodging and other recovery resources throughout the cleanup process.

Since the Lineage warehouse fire began, Airbnb.org has provided more than 1,000 free emergency housing nights for residents of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles.

Eligible residents will be matched with accommodations that best meet their needs, including locations close to their workplaces, schools, family members, or support networks. 211 LA will continue to determine eligibility and coordinate bookings through Airbnb.org.

The emergency housing program is available to eligible families residing in close proximity to the Lineage warehouse during the ongoing cleanup efforts.
