Mayor Bass Announces 13 Additional Major Conventions Choose Los Angeles Following Convention Center Expansion

More Than 103,000 Attendees Expected to Generate Over $242 Million in Economic Impact

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Karen Bass announced that 13 major national and international organizations have selected the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) to host their future annual conferences following the City's approval of the Convention Center Expansion and Modernization Project.

The newly secured conventions are expected to attract more than 103,000 attendees to Los Angeles and generate an estimated $242 million in economic impact, while supporting thousands of well-paying union jobs and strengthening the City's tourism industry.

"Our expansion and modernization of the Los Angeles Convention Center is fueling new economic growth and boosting tourism while supporting our broader effort to revitalize Downtown Los Angeles," said Mayor Karen Bass.

"These 13 major organizations chose Los Angeles because we're delivering a world-class convention facility. Together, they will bring more than 103,000 attendees and generate over $242 million in economic impact for our city. I thank the City Tourism Department and all of our partners for helping bring new business and opportunity to Los Angeles."

Newly Confirmed Conferences

The following organizations have committed to hosting future conferences at the Los Angeles Convention Center:

2029 – National Association for College Admission Counseling
2029 – American Chemical Society
2030 – Specialty Coffee Association
2031 – American Heart Association Scientific Sessions
2031 – American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology
2031 – American Immigration Lawyers Association
2032 – Association for Financial Professionals
2033 – EDUCAUSE
2033 – American Heart Association International Stroke Conference
2034 – Health and Fitness Association
2035 – American Society for Human Genetics
2036 – Health and Fitness Association
2036 – LeadingAge

Collectively, these 13 conventions are projected to bring more than 103,000 attendees to Los Angeles, generate over $242 million in economic activity, contribute millions of dollars to the City's General Fund, and support local hotels, restaurants, retailers, transportation providers, and small businesses.

Doane Liu, Chief Tourism Officer and Executive Director of the City's Tourism Department, said the expansion announcement has already led to a significant increase in convention bookings.

"We're seeing tremendous momentum as major organizations make long-term commitments to Los Angeles. These bookings reinforce our position as a premier global convention destination, and we look forward to welcoming them to a modernized, world-class facility."

Adam Burke, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, noted that meetings and conventions remain one of the strongest drivers of the region's visitor economy.

The 13 newly announced conferences build upon three major events previously secured and announced by Mayor Bass in January:

2031 – American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
2032 – American Geophysical Union
2037 – International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference

After more than a decade of planning, the Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion and Modernization Project has officially moved forward under Mayor Bass' leadership. With several major global events on the horizon, the project is expected to play a key role in revitalizing Downtown Los Angeles and reinforcing the city's status as a world-class destination for business, tourism, culture, and international conventions.
