LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested an armed man at Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes on August 2 after federal agents reported suspicious activity on the property.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, plainclothes federal agents observed the man walking around the golf course, taking photographs and videos, and appearing to monitor security-planning activities.

Deputies identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey, who was also under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a robbery case.

During his detention, deputies reportedly found a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in his pocket. A search of his vehicle, parked on the golf course property, uncovered a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber and an additional loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.

Taele was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.

Because of the potential security implications, investigators working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service searched Taele’s Downey residence on August 3. Authorities recovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle, a .45-caliber 1911 pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, large quantities of ammunition, radio-signal devices, and several notebooks containing statements described as concerning.

The case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. Taele remains in custody.

Authorities said investigators have not identified a credible threat to the community at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
