LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an administrative citation to Lineage Logistics after inspections identified unsanitary conditions, pest-control violations and an ongoing nuisance affecting nearby communities.

A June fire left large quantities of food inside the warehouse, where the products later began to decompose. The rotting food contributed to foul odors and significant fly activity in and around the facility. Public Health began investigating after receiving a complaint on July 15, 2026. Lineage Logistics is currently removing the damaged food as part of its recovery efforts.

The administrative citation was first issued on July 23 and carries the maximum fine of $500 per day until the violations are corrected. Additional citations may be issued if subsequent inspections find that the company has failed to comply.

During a July 22 inspection, officials found accumulations of decaying organic waste, food residue, sludge and wastewater inside Freezers 1 and 2 and in the adjacent loading dock. These conditions created breeding and harborage areas for flies.

Inspectors also observed live flies, dead flies and fly larvae along the facility’s northern perimeter wall, on nearby sidewalks and streets along Union Pacific Avenue, and in the facility’s southeastern section and loading dock. Standing water containing numerous dead flies was also found in the northeastern portion of the property.

Public Health has ordered Lineage Logistics to:

- Remove and properly dispose of all fire-damaged food, putrescible waste and decomposing organic materials;
- Eliminate all actual and potential fly-breeding sources;
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all affected areas;
- Have active breeding areas treated by a licensed pest-control operator; and
- Prevent flies from spreading to neighboring properties or creating an ongoing public health nuisance.

Public Health is monitoring the cleanup and conducting regular reinspections to verify compliance.

The department also issued a directive to Lineage Logistics on June 29 requiring the company to take mitigation measures in communities affected by the warehouse fire and the subsequent decay of food waste.
