BELLFLOWER, Calif. — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that left an adult man dead Friday night in Bellflower.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:06 p.m. on July 24, 2026, in the 10400 block of Artesia Boulevard.

According to the Sheriff’s Department’s preliminary account, deputies responded to a call involving an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon suspect who was reportedly armed with a firearm. A deputy-involved shooting occurred after deputies contacted the man.

The man was struck by gunfire and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No deputies were injured during the incident.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity, information about the deputy who fired, or further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Under department procedures, any deputy-involved shooting in which a person is struck by gunfire triggers multiple investigations, including separate reviews by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau. The Los Angeles County Office of Inspector General is also notified and provides independent oversight during the investigative process.

Once the investigations are completed, the circumstances surrounding the shooting will undergo additional departmental review. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a legal analysis to determine whether the shooting was lawful.
